ReplyDeleteKudos to them, really. It's admirable to see them so famous yet so private about their lives away from the cameras. Some choose to appear in a variety or talk show here and there, but they don't make it a priority like idols do.

Haha I suddenly remember an interview Kang Dong Won did. He was asked why didn't he appear in any variety shows and he replied with something like he didn't like talking about himself too much. Remember he went on Happy Together to promote Temptation of Wolves? (there's clips on youtube) I think that was one of his last few appearances on a variety show, if not, the last. He even said it suited him best because all he did was sing.
So jiseob appear on the first season of dream team. That was a long time ago... And other variety too i guess. Choi ji woo on running man recently. It's hye kyo that I've never seen on variety...

Since Tae-hyun is almost friends with every male actor (not literally haha but yeah), and Seungwoo is besties with Jang Dong-gun (+baseball ahjussi :P).. Thinking about it makes me happy, LOL.

generally.. it's the a-list movie stars who stay away from variety shows, and only few can get away with it.
She truly is.. I've watched two of her documentaries and I am mesmerized by her (and this is an understatement)... Especially by the way she speaks.. She's so elegant, charming, humble adorable, shy, hard-working and way too beautiful. Lol I hope this doesn't sound creepy, but her face is so sweet-looking, my mood will actually be improved if I see her.

But it is true that so ji sub was on Infinity Challenge, which created such a big buzz because he is known to be a private top star who's part of the korea's untouchable gods.He agreed to do IC because he is best friend with Jung jun ha and the PD of Infinity Challenge have asked him to be on the show for so many times, even creating a campaign to have him on the show. He finally agreed after 4 years. It made huge news and IC promoted it very heavily by using the lines "the private top star you will never see in other shows". That shows you how "private and exclusive" he is.

Being mysterious is better than having a lot of scandals, but I actually prefer stars who have friendly image like Yoo Jaesuk, Lee Seunggi, Cha Taehyun, Kim Seungwoo, Han Hyojo, or Park Shinhye. They often appeared in variety show but still manage to have great impression.

I don't think he will suit variety shows well though. I watched his interviews from "Autumn Tale" to "The man from nowhere", he seems to give very short and brief answers to interview questions, without the variety factor. If he is going to be on some variety show, I think he will sit and smile shyly the whole time.
however, I perfectly fine with it. He just needs to be on another drama again!!! How I miss his face on dramas?!

and also, funny that you mentioned YJS and LSG - both are MC's on variety shows which basically requires them to be on tv all the time. they do not have to "hide" coz they're the front man of these shows.
If I remember correctly, Kang Dong Won was in Happy Together a long long time ago. I would love to watch it but has anybody found a video with English subtitles?? He and Won Bin are by far my favorite actors.

I cant still quite understand the "won bin treatment" thing but yes, looking at the people here, i dont even remember watching them in variety.. well, just choi ji woo recently in RM but yeah... looking at how troublesome can be for a celeb to appear in variety these days... if the celebs are not good at it, theyll get flamed and if theyre good then theyll get flamed too because they might appear in variety shows too often... and God forbid if you say something as a joke and people take it literally... u're SCREWED... so imo, theyre doing the right thing... :)
